The mission of
St. John's
Lutheran Church is:
With faithful hearts,
we strive to:
share the Word of God, serve our community, and be living reminders of God's love.
We at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church are a caring and loving congregation who would love to welcome you to join us for worship.
We are a vibrant church, that is still worshipping safely in person. Our in-person worship is also live on YouTube for the homebound, those at a considerable distance from church and those with underlying health conditions or anyone who is fearful to be in public. Even after Covid-19, we will continue our distance worship services for all who are interested.
We are excited about our upcoming services:
Wednesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 24 at 7:00 p.m., mid-week Lenten worship using the beloved Holden Evening Prayer Service, meditation and a homily.
Sunday, March 21: Last Sunday Lenten worship service with music, hymn-singing and Holy Communion.
Sunday, March 28: Palm Sunday worship at 10:30 a.m. with a special children's procession, palm celebration and joyful Holy Communion.
Thursday, April 1: Maundy Thursday commemorating the Last Supper, with procession of Holy Water, symbolic ceremony for foot washing and a very special Holy Communion, along with a Scriptural presentation. In an emotional moment, the altar will be cleared at the end in preparation for the sadness and darkness of Good Friday.
Friday, April 2: Good Friday solemn Tenebrae service with huge cross on which we will lay our hidden sins for forgiveness and hear the last words of Christ on the cross. There will also be live, beautiful musical solos. A quiet time of meditation and prayer in darkness with a Strepitus at the end.
Saturday, April 3: Hop-on-By celebration on the lawn with a hopstacle course, games, pictures with the Easter bunny and take-home Easter egg hunt bags loaded with toy-stuffed eggs plus a take-home treat and juice. Come anytime between 12 noon and 3 p.m. for a time of fun and stay for as long as you like. There will be music also. Look for the decorated Easter tents on the Church's front lawn on Franklin Avenue.
Sunday, April 4: Glorious Easter celebrations at 7:30 a.m. (sunrise service) and 10:30 a.m. (with a special children's musical prelude on the lawn at 10:15). Trumpets, loud shouts of praise, bright white lights and decorations to show our joy to the glory of God. What a celebration there will be!
